do your products require refrigeration?
As a raw food, all of our products require refrigeration, even prior to opening. Refrigeration simply slows the fermentation process. Products are safe to travel at cool to room temperatures for a matter of days, but are not meant to be stored in the pantry.
the lid didn't pop when i opened it and required only a quick twist. is it safe to consume?
The presence of a popping lid, means that the product was pasteurized (heat treated) to kill microbes and create a partial vacuum seal. This would also imply that no probiotic element is left. Our products are all packed as raw 'living' foods loaded with gut-loving microbes. Every jar is also capped with a single lug lid, creating a snug fit, but also only requiring a fraction of a turn to open. This is normal!
how long do your products last?
Our products all carry with them a Best Buy date which provides a good indicator that flavors and textures are at their best. Expect that over time the flavors will evolve, even under refrigeration. Know that the longer and more often the product is exposed to air, the more rapidly the flavors will change. All of our products will hold indefinitely and are safe to consume long after the Best Buy date.
are your products vegan and gluten free?
Yes. All of our products are made with whole vegetables, fruit, spices and salt with no exceptions.
are your products pasteurized?
Our products are all raw, without vinegar or heat (pasteurization). This is the nature of a wild-fermented, living food!
Gut-loving microbes are preserved without the use of heat.

what are the benefits of eating fermented food?
The benefits of eating raw, fermented foods are vast. Our guts have been revealed to be at the core of our well-being, with evidence showing how probiotic rich foods help boost immunity, aid in digestion and make the nutrients in other food we consume more bioavailable. We encourage all to see how fermented food can work for you!
can i eat products straight out of the jar?
We know that we've a following that likes to just 'dig in' with the jar and a fork and we love you for it! For those of you whom don't plow through a jar in a couple days we suggest not double dipping. If you want to savor the flavor over the coming weeks or month it is best to portion out your serving(s) into a separate dish and keep in a sealed container in the fridge. Incorporating new bacteria, by double dipping or leaving open in the fridge will rapidly change the flavors or create an opportunity for spoilage.
where do you source your vegetables?
We love answering this question! Based in Bellingham, WA we source the majority of our vegetables from Whatcom and Skagit Counties, within 30miles of our kitchen! We've a short list of farmers that supply us the bulk of our cabbage in fall through late winter. A rapidly growing list of seasonally available fermented foods are also sourced from local growers. Our most recent additions included our Spicy Brussel Sprouts and Beets.

can i bring products across the canadian border?
As a packaged food you can certainly bring any of our products into Canada.
is fermented food for me?
We believe all can benefit from adding fermented foods into their diet! There are more options than ever when it comes to fermented food and beverages. Look for raw, refrigerated foods and drinks. If you are new to fermented food we suggest starting small. As more and more processed foods occupy store shelves and often our shelves at home, our guts are often deficient in the bacteria and enzymes that aid in breaking down food. For those ready to 'reset' your gut health you may experience some initial gas and/or bloating with fermented food, this is normal and will subside as your gut begins to adjust.
